Glorious Hampshire
Calshot Spit
This unique spit of land that’s almost surrounded by water offers some of the best Kitesurf, Paddleboard and Wing conditions on the South Coast. Large lagoons combined with reliable sea breezes produce perfect conditions for learning to kitesurf and wing, whilst paddleboarders will love exploring the extensive salt marsh, known locally as the back pond. Those more experienced have the option of going on a short journey, paddling along the sheltered waterways and exploring the nearby beauty of the New Forest National Park. Home to free roaming ponies, picturesque villages and scenic woodland walks this is a great place to visit whilst in the area.
Our base is home to Calshot Activities Centre, one of the largest centres in the UK with a climbing wall, velodrome and ski slope and is a great alternative if we need to cancel courses due to the weather. The centre also has a cafe with fantastic views across the Solent and Isle of Wight and is the perfect place to grab a coffee or spot of lunch.
Facilities just across the road from us include toilets, changing rooms and showers. Parking is operated by ANPR, automatic number plate recognition and so simply drive through the automated barrier and then you will need to pay for parking prior to leaving the site.
“Hampshire is a fantastic location for kitesurfing, wingfoil and paddleboarding with different conditions from flat water to rolling swell at high tide”
Perfect for Kitesurfing, paddleboarding and Wingfoil
Calshot Spit, Hampshire is a one-mile-long sand and shingle bank, near the village of Calshot, located on the southern bank of the open end of Southampton Water, on the Hampshire coast.
The beach forms part of a mile long shingle spit which reaches out into the mouth of Southampton Water. From here you get a great view of the ships coming and going from one of the UK’s largest ports.
The beach also offers panoramic views of the Solent, Southampton and the Isle of Wight and is the perfect location for all the Nomadic sports we are specialists in.
On the other side of the spit is an extensive salt marsh which is home to a wealth of birds and other wildlife.
